Pearl and Squirrel are Here

Emily had an emergency Caesarian yesterday and now Pearl and Squirrel are here. Pearl is on the right of the picture and Squirrel is on the left. They haven't named them yet because they came earlier than expected, so I took it upon myself to give them temporary names. If they take too long I may not be able to switch their names in my head so they better hurry. Anyway there the two little girls are. Incase Liz reads this call Emily. She has been trying to get a hold of you.

A little Update

Well it has been a long time since we updated on anything that we have been doing. We have been keeping pretty busy with school and work lately. Britney has a new job teaching preschool in a speech therapy preschool. They have her doing the lesson plans for their school days. She has fun with it and has funny stories from the little kids.
I've started school again and I've been a lot busier this year than last year. We've started our modules and actually we are two weeks from finishing our first one, Pulmonary Renal system. I've learned about asthma, COPD, Emphysema, Kidney disease, and many more things along with all the drugs used in each of the disease states. It's been really intense but nice knowing that I am learning what I need to for my career. It's pretty amazing how all these drugs have been invented to help people. There has been a lot of inspiration involved leading to drug discovery.
We are excited to have Megan and Mica and their kids coming home later this month. Anthony is getting baptized on the 24th. Britney is already decorating our house for her favorite holiday. Halloween. Most people think she is funny and I think she is a little bit crazy. At least it is fun at our house in october. You never know what will greet you at our house. We'll have to post some pictures of the haunted apartment when we get them.

Home Alone

Well Britney has been gone for over a week now. She gets back Tuesday night. I'm excited to have her back again. It has been pretty quiet around here so far. She is doing a great thing and I appreciate the service that she is rendering in Ecuador. I wish I could have gone along as a translator. Maybe the next time.

While I've been home alone I have worked ate and slept. I have also read an entire novel series called the Great and Terrible by Chris Stewart. It is an awesome series about the last days from the perspective of an LDS author. It has a great story line and the ability to open your eyes to what the the world is capable of doing in the last days. He knows his stuff and it will keep your attention from page one to the last page in the series. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read.

I also went to the temple one night on my own. Since I have been married I haven't been to the temple alone. It was a good experience but not the same as having someone you care about and love with you. The same day I went and got my birthday meal at Red Robin. Britney signed me up and they gave me a coupon for a free meal. It was wierd sitting alone but I loved it when the waitor said you don't have a bill so feel free to leave when you want.

Anyway I've had enough alone time and I am ready for some company here in Pocatello again.

Happy Birthday Robby!!

Happy 24th Birthday Robby!!!!
What a fun year we had!!

Getting the Cast Off!!

Rob got his splint off yesterday and he is so excited. He wanted me to put these pictures on our blog so everyone can see his manly scar and bruises. He goes back to the doctor in about two weeks and they will tell him whether or not he will have to do physical therapy. If Rob works on getting his full range of motion back for these two weeks and succeeds then he won't have to go. So I guess we will see.

Rob's Surgery

Rob had his surgery today. We had to be there by 6:00 am. Rob decided to work last night so he didn't sleep at all before his surgery. We got there at 6:00 am but they didn't start the surgery until 7:00 am. I was able to wait with Rob until he was wheeled off. The RN gave Rob some "happy" medicine and I thought it was so funny that when they were wheeling him away he was just all smiles. Life couldn't be any better for him, he was feeling good! The surgery was only suppose to last an hour so I was getting a little nervous when it reached 9:00 am and I hadn't heard anything. Soon after 9:00 am the doctor came in and talked with me. He told me that everything went well and they didn't have to do a bone graft!! Yeah!! He does have some screws, a plate, and an artifical spacer in his arm. They let me go see him in the recovery room. While I was there Rob was trying to tell the nurse that he was in pain but it came out in a very long slured speech. The nurse understood though, and i was impressed. Rob doesn't even remember me coming and seeing him. He is doing really well today. His arm hurts but thats understandable. He bascially has been sleeping all day which is good. We'll keep you posted.

Right after the surgery

Sorry about those last two pictures I don't know why they won't rotate. These are xrays of his arm.

Weekend in Boise

Rob and I went to Boise this weekend because Beth and Travis were visiting from Kentucky!!! It was so good to see them!! On Friday, Beth, Travis, Rob, Dad and I went Frisbee golfing in 105 degrees! What were we thinking. By the ninth hole we were all sweaty! Did I mention the course wasn't shaded. That night we ate at Olive Garden then saw Harry Potter! It was a great movie.

On Saturday the weather was still blistering hot so we hung out in the pool pretty much the whole day! Later that night we went over to Emily and Jason's house to play a bored game. We had a great time seeing them!

Sunday Nicole and Shay came over and brought seven surprises, PUPPIES!!!! Lucy her dog just had 7 puppies around two weeks ago. They were so cute!! We also had a birthday party for Beth since we weren't going to see her on her acutal birthday. Just want to say Happy Birthday to Liz because Sunday was her birthday!

Rob's Elbow

Rob and I went to the doctor again today to get a second look on his elbow. His elbow is still bothering him and it has been more than a month. This doctor had something completely different to say than the other doctor we saw two weeks ago. He told Rob that he needed surgery!!! So the doctor made an appointment for next Wednesday. Ahh!!!

Our Weekend!!

On Friday night we went on a bike ride. We decided we would ride our bikes to Lynzi and Aaron Hobbs house. Well, sadly they weren't home but it was fun anyway. The ride back was a killer, mostly uphill all the way!!!

Saturday, Rob and I went on a date. We first went to the Museum of Idaho to see the Titanic exhibit. Everyone that goes recieves a name of a person that was actually on the Titanic. At the end of the exhibit you find out if your person lived or died. My person lived but Robs died.

Next we visited the street fairs, all look and no buying. Afterwards, we walked over to the green belt and had our picnic by the river.

No Rob doesn't usually dress up so nice for our dates. We were actually going to go to a temple session after we ate. The temple has been closed for cleaning so it seems like it has been forever since we last went.

The strangest thing we saw was this guy walking on the green belt with this huge snake drapped around his body.

After the temple we went and played 18 holes of grisbee golf at freeman park. We had never been to this course before so we decided to check it out. This course is kind of crazy, you have to throw your frisbee over the river on some of the holes. Of course my frisbee ended up in the water on one of my throws. Also I don't know what the deal was but my frisbee was a magnet for people. I seriously almost hit a whole family and a couple just relaxing by the river on two separate holes.

It was a pretty fun Saturday!!!!

Fourth of July Weekend!!!!

On Friday, Rob and I drove to Liz's house in Burley. Liz invited us to go with her and Dallins family to the Shoshone Falls and then swimming. The first thing we did when we arrived at the Falls was eat because there were three cars full of hungry people. Afterwards, we walked down to the Falls. It was a great time to go because the water level was high. They are so beautiful!!

Liz, Alex, and Britney

Robby and Britney

Later that day we drove back to Pocatello to meet up with Emily and Jason. We drove with them down to Soda Springs. Emily went down for her 10 year high school reunion and we went for the festivities. Saturday was so much fun!! First, we went to the Fourth of July parade. Rob has been talking about this parade for months.

Jason, Rob, and Britney

The Parade

Our loot

That is just a fraction of how much candy we got. Jason and Robby's pockets are full of candy! After the parade we all went to the park where they were having more fourth of July festivities. We were able to talk and visit with people we haven't seen for awhile.

Yum! Snow Cones
Our day is not over yet. We then drive to Idaho Falls for the Melaleuca fire works. These fireworks are ranked 7th in the nation.

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!!!

The Update

So today I met with the Orthopedic Surgeon about my elbow. He told me unfortunately there is nothing we can do, so their going to have to amputate. It's kinda sad, but I guess who needs two arms. Just kidding, but what he did say was that I had broken my arm somewhere in the past. Most likely it was when I was a sophomore in high school. I remember my arm hurt for like six months. Who knows why I never got an x-ray. Oh well. Dr. Coker told me that I was a freak of nature, and it healed with a nice thick scar. The only problem was that the bone scars don't always show up on x-ray. He said that I have a funny x-ray but a normal elbow for now. He said he is 99% sure that my elbow will be fine, but I have a follow up visit in two weeks to make it 100% sure. That was some good news. Apparently I did some bruising and spraining that should heal fine. The only problem was my freakish x-ray that didn't tell the whole story. I'm just glad that I know now and don't have to have surgery.

My Broken Elbow

This last monday while playing softball on the same field where Britney hurt her shin, I broke my elbow. It started out as a normal game. We were doing pretty good. About the 4 inning I dove for a ball and when I planted my elbow to break the fall it felt like I kind of tweeked it. Then two innings later I dove going the other direction and planted the elbow the same way. When my hand made contact with the ground my elbow immediately popped. I knew it wasn't good, but being competitive I finished out the play. I have to say that both times I was able to make the play and get the outs. Anyway I went to the dugout in some pretty significant pain. I didn't want to give up so I kept playing and it hurt when I tried to throw. I pulled the last straw when I went up to bat. I got on base with a very weak hit and felt like my arm was going to fall off. When I got home I put some ice on my arm and took some Ibuprofen. By the end of the night I was able to sleep and woke up without much pain. The only problem was that my elbow was about twice the size of the other one. I decided that I should get it checked out. I made an appointment to go to the chiropractor down in Soda wednesday.

He was surprised to see my elbow so swollen and did some work on it to get some swelling out. He suspected that I had torn some ligaments but decided to take an x-ray for the fun of it. As soon as the x-ray was developed he had his nurse make an appointment for me with an Orthopedic surgeon in Pocatello. Then he showed me that I had in fact broken my elbow. He thinks that it is an old break from years ago that I didn't know about, and that I just rebroke it. So I will see the other doctor on wednesday and see what we have to do. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't all that serious and will be an easy fix. Here are a few pictures of the injury.

Try and guess which elbow it is.

Here is my left arm x-ray for comparison. I just took a picture of the x-ray film itself so it isn't the greatest.

You can see that broken spot on the left. It almost looks like my elbow became pacman.

Here are all the different angles they took today.

Surprisingly enough It doesn't hurt as bad as I imagined a broken bone would feel like. We'll see what the surgeon says. I really hope I don't need surgery, but who knows. Wish me luck.

Kid's Day In The Park

Last Saturday, Liz and Alex drove to Pocatello to go to the Idaho State Journal Kids Fair. Everything was free for the kids except the food. This day was full of surprises. The first surprise of the day was Liz locking her keys in the car. Thank goodness she rolled down the window a little before we got out. We had to use a stick to unlock the car from the inside. Another surprise was when Liz and I were passing a booth at the fair and this lady addressed us as the moms. I think she thought we were a gay couple!

They had so many activities for the kids. Here is Alex in the fire engine.

Alex was so scared of the D.A.R.E dog that he started crying and just wanted to get away from it. The police officer asked me, "What do you put in his crib?" Such a sad face.

Liz and Alex

Alex just chilling on the mats. He had a fun filled afternoon.

Another surprise of the day. We were walking to the car and Liz asked me "What is on your leg?" I looked down and saw this huge yellow mess and I had no idea what it was. Liz then said, "You stepped in cotton candy!" I took off the huge chunk before I took this picture. Who knows how long I had been walking around with cotton candy on my leg.
